What Councils Are Looking For

• Qualifications: Diploma of Arboriculture (AQF Level 5 or equivalent) required.
• Technical Expertise: Solid understanding of tree risk assessment (TRAQ/QTRA) and tree protection standards (e.g., AS 4970-2009 or regional equivalents).
• Skills: Ability to assess development plans, review arborist reports, and communicate advice clearly to council planners, builders, and community members.
• Prior council or statutory planning experience is a strong advantage, but arborists with strong report-writing skills looking to step into local government are highly encouraged to apply.
